FEDOR LURIE, M.D., PhD.
Dr. Lurie was born raised and educated in Sverdlovsk (now Ekaterinburg), Russia. After specialty training and board certification in Vascular Surgery, he obtained an advanced PhD degree in cardio-vascular physiology, and was appointed as a professor of General and Vascular Surgery at Urals Medical Academy. He came to the USA in 1994 where he took a position as visiting professor at the UC Davis working in the department of surgery. Throughout his experience he developed early and deep expertise in diagnostic ultrasound techniques which he presently performs at KVC. He presently heads up the American Venous Forum Committee on Outcomes which is responsible for setting the national standards for Ultrasound Diagnosis of Venous Disease. He is the lead author of many original publications including studies in venous disease. Among these is the definitive study comparing vein stripping with the minimally invasive Closure procedure that provided undeniable scientific validity for this procedure. Details of his accomplishments and background are found in the appendix. Dr. Lurie shares the passion to innovate, evaluate, and educate in the field of venous diseases.
